About the role

Over your 12-month placement, you will gain hands-on, practical experience in an innovative business development role within a public-sector organisation to expand and develop your transferable skills. This role offers an excellent entry point for individuals seeking a career in business and/or administration.

NQ Delivery: Assessment and Data Services are a large business area in the Operations Directorate. The teams develop, improve and deliver key assessment services to schools/colleges/training providers, markers, learners and other stakeholders leading to accurate and timely National Qualification certification.

We cover a wide range of activities — from managing entry and result data and reconciling learner responses from all around Scotland to resolving a wide range of issues with responses and ensuring that they are all marked to the national standard and results communicated to all learners.

Detailed logistical planning and ongoing monitoring of processes and procedures is critical to our success as is seeking to continuously improvement how we deliver.

You will gain hands-on, practical experience in a dynamic public-sector organisation over your year’s placement to expand and develop your skills. 

 

Responsibilities

Work across all 4 ADS teams at different times of the year supporting them in a wide range of tasks critical to delivery of the NQ diet. These tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Making administrative arrangements to ensure assessment material, QA activities, reports, meetings, results and appointee payments are processed accurately.
  • Take part in process reviews and continuous improvement activities.
  • Manage internal and external mailboxes and ensuring enquiries are responded to accurately and to time.
  • Handle data accurately.
  • Assist with coordinating physical distribution and collation of assessment material. 
  • Support our annual assurance activities (tasks designed to test our systems and processes before they are used on live results).
