Job Description

We’re looking for a Data Analyst to join the Data & Analytics team.

 

As a data analyst, you will be responsible for:

  • further developing our analytical capability and ensuring that we utilise the best available methods and standards to deliver statistics that are in the public interest.
  • undertaking robust analyses to improve our service delivery.
  • contributing and gaining experience from across the work of the team and Qualifications Scotland
  • engaging with other agencies and stakeholders across Scotland’s education system

To do this you must have experience in the following specific duties: 

  • experience of data wrangling and analysis with a variety of datasets
  • ability to translate policy, operational and business challenges into actionable analytical problems and solutions and to bring innovations where appropriate and impactful
  • reporting and presenting complex analysis to internal and external audiences to inform policy and decision making. Will require knowledge and experience in data visualisation.
  • proficiency in R or Python. Experience with packages for producing interactive visualisations (e.g. shiny or streamlit), using Git or similar version-controlled development workflows, as well as style sheet (e.g. CSS) and markup languages (e.g. markdown and/or html) would each be beneficial.
  • experience of working both independently and collaboratively on analysis projects.

 

You must also have the following skills and experience: 

  • have strong analytical skills. Experience of undertaking research or statistical projects with a significant quantitative element.
  • experience of data visualization
  • educated to SCQF Level 9 (Degree/SVQ 4) and/or be able to demonstrate direct relevant experience for this role
